Edwards Hand: “Friday Hill”
The story goes that George Martin was incredibly fed up with The Beatles during the recording process of The White Album.
He went home after a particularly frustrating session (involving Yoko and a bed), and dug through demo tapes that were mailed to him from aspiring bands. He found a tape from a band called Edwards Hand and contacted them, stating that he would record their album gratis.
He then took two weeks off from The White Album and recorded Edwards Hand eponymous debut record, the track above being included on it. Falls somewhere between Simon & Garfunkel, and Emitt Rhodes type balladry.
*side note*
The bass player for this album was John Wetton, who would later find fame with King Crimson, and one of our favorite albums “Red”.
