vampires are the new black. per se.

One or OUR SONGS was used for the uber-tween mega trendy hotness “Vampire Diaries”.

As of today, the youtube video of that song (shown with static episode number) has been viewed 13,141 times. I don’t know whether to laugh, or cut all my fingers off so that I’ll never write another song again.
However,….

I just read THIS STORY - apparently the vampires on that show don’t just suck blood, they also get arrested for flashing people from an overpass in small town Georgia. And for some reason, that kind of makes the show a lot cooler. Add to it that they’re posing for their arresting mug shots like it was prom night, and you’ve doubled your cool points. I’m now a fan.

Way to go girls, three cheers for civil disobedience! …per se….

last night was super fun. thank for asking us to play, pcp.

This - posted in 2000 - forecast the reason why people aren’t buying as much music anymore. A fascinating read - brilliant and horrifying.

Masters Apprentices - Easy To Lie

This song taken from their criminally overlooked album “Choice Cuts”. The song - recorded 1970 in studio B at Abbey Road - was featured in this skull crusher of a video.

The Aussie band’s lead singer, Jim Keays, stands shirtless in front of a poster of Huey Newton (one of my heroes) along with some anti-war graphics, and lip syncs while air guitaring. There are video’s of the entire album done in this fashion. It’s not certain if this was done because of financial restraints or for purely artistic reasons, but either way - it is simply amazing.

If you can hunt down ‘Choice Cuts’ you’d be doing yourself a good service.

happy xmas

tonight was fun, thanks pdx!

where i go each morning after the first cuppa.

The Pickup

1975 Directed By: Bernard Hirschenson

Pickup. Oh man. This might make it to my top 5. A desert island film. ‘On The Road’ meets bizarre hippie film noir. This independent trip has accrued some fans online & I’ve even found a myspace page dedicated to this movie (!!). LINK HERE. (*extra points for the Big Elf used on the page!*).

The title is completely misleading. Pushed as a ‘hitchhiker exploitation’ type film by the company that bought the distribution rights, the name was purely a marketing ploy. Originally titled “Pazuzu”, this film couldn’t be further from what it appears. Two girls hitchhike with a guy who is delivering a mobile home to a sales dealership.
They quickly get lost in the Florida swamps. Strange visions ensue, clowns / politician visitations, some tarot card stuff that gets confusing, and yet even more allegory’s that, who the hell knows what means. But, you can’t help but appreciate the effort.
What all this really means is that there are many “what the hell am I watching” moments in this film (a reoccurring theme to films I dig, apparently), and when the final sequence comes, it’s complete surrender -  you win movie, you win!

I would have completely overlooked this gem if I hadn’t developed an addiction to the two-fer “Grindhouse” series released by bci entertainment, and started buying up all of them late at night after one too many. Thanks for everything Amazon one click purchasing!
